　　鄧青云博士1947年出生于香港，1970年在英屬哥倫比亞大學(xué)獲得化學(xué)理學(xué)士學(xué)位，1975年在康奈爾大學(xué)獲得物理化學(xué)博士學(xué)位。此后，鄧青云博士成為位于紐約羅切斯特的柯達(dá)研究實(shí)驗(yàn)室的一名研究科學(xué)家，并開始了他從事有機(jī)半導(dǎo)體材料和電子應(yīng)用設(shè)備開發(fā)的職業(yè)生涯。

　　2006年，鄧青云博士因其在有機(jī)發(fā)光二極體和異質(zhì)結(jié)有機(jī)太陽能電池上取得的開創(chuàng)性的成就被選為美國工程院院士。同年，鄧青云博士被羅切斯特大學(xué)聘請(qǐng)為Doris Johns Cherry教授，現(xiàn)為羅切斯特大學(xué)化學(xué)工程系，化學(xué)系和物理天文學(xué)系教授。2011年，鄧教授與芝加哥大學(xué)的斯圖爾特·賴斯教授和卡耐基梅隆大學(xué)的克里茲托夫·馬特加茲維斯基教授共同獲得了由沃爾夫基金會(huì)頒發(fā)的沃爾夫化學(xué)獎(jiǎng)，這是在化學(xué)領(lǐng)域僅次于諾貝爾獎(jiǎng)的國際性大獎(jiǎng)。

　　Dr. Ching W. Tang was born in Hong Kong in 1947, graduated with a BS in chemistry from the University of British Columbia in 1970, and obtained the PhD in physical chemistry from Cornell University in 1975. Later, he became a research scientist at the Kodak Research Laboratory in Rochester, New York, and began his career in organic semiconductor materials and electronic applications development. In 2006, Dr. Deng was elected US Academy of Engineering because of its pioneering achievements made in the OLED and hetero-junction organic solar cells. In the same year, he joined the University of Rochester as the Doris Johns Cherry Professor. Now, he is the professor of Chemical Engineering Department , Chemistry Department, and Physical Astronomy Department of the University of Rochester. Dr. Deng with Professor Stuart A. Rice of the University of Chicago, and Professor Krzysztof  Matyjaszewski of Carnegie Mellon University were awarded the Wolf Prize in Chemistry together in 2011, which is an international award second only to the Nobel Prize in the chemical field.
